There’s only one company that can provide reliable lab testing along with all of your
transformer needs. T&R Electric has been in the transformer business since 1961. We process
over 25,000 transformers annually, rebuild and recondition over 15,000 and stock over 45,000 units!
That makes us the largest supplier of remanufactured transformers in the United States.
Keeping your transformers in good working order is important, which is why we offer Lab Testing
as one of our many services. Our lab tests tens of thousands of samples every year ranging from
Dissolved Gas Analysis to PCB levels. We provide a number of other lab tests as well.

These tests will provide dependable information that will allow you to make an educated
decision on a course of action for your transformer. Our goal is to extend the life of your
unit and prevent unplanned service outages.
Many customers are left wondering what to do with the test results. With nearly 50 years in
the transformer business, we have both the industry experience and the experts on-hand to
analyze test results and help you determine a plan of action.
Minimizing down time is crucial. Based on manufacturers’ guidelines, IEEE recommendations
and insurance company requirements, many transformers should be tested annually.
Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) testing is applicable to all types of oil-filled electrical equipment and provides early detection of potential problems that may exist, including but not limited to:
- Corona
- Overheating
- Arcing
- Paper Degradation
A sample of oil is sent to our lab where the severity of any identified problem can be
determined before additional damage occurs. Much like a vehicle, your transformer needs
consistent checkups to maintain high levels of performance. If repair work becomes necessary,
T&R Electric has the capabilities to handle all of your service needs. If you need a replacement,
T&R Electric can provide that as well.
T&R Electric is dedicated to providing top-notch service to all of our customers. Having all of
this under one roof is important because it speeds the entire process and provides better quality
control. T&R Electric offers reliable lab testing and specialized analysis, along with the resources
provided by our team of engineers, production and customer support people. If there is a problem,
whether it’s replacement, retrofit or repair, you can count on “The Transformer People®” at T&R Electric!
